ripped away - arraché - weggerissen is my Final Major Project during my BA (Hons) Photography study.

ripped away | arraché | weggerissen... is a series of images that addresses death, loss, and grief. Deliberately depersonalised, I attempt to make the theme accessible to the viewer through an abstract, minimalist representation of a supposed alter ego. The feeling of "having the ground pulled out from under you" describes the emptiness one feels when losing a loved one. The graphic aesthetic is intentional, clearly organised, bringing the depth of the theme to the forefront without distraction. It is not overloaded with emotion but perhaps conveys a bit of hope.
